When the weather gets colder, mini-skirts can look a little out of place.

So these stars have found a way to make their wardrobes slightly more winter-appropriate – while still showing off plenty of leg, of course.
Elle Macpherson, Jennifer Aniston, Yasmin Le Bon and Jennifer Lopez all favour flowing gowns with dramatic thigh-high splits.

And they have ensured the trend will catch on by wearing them to glamorous awards ceremonies.

Miss Macpherson, 47, attended the Harper’s Bazaar magazine Women of the Year awards in an ankle-length black dress with an eye-catching split and a plunging back.

And not to be outdone, fellow model Mrs Le Bon, also 47, opted for a one-shoulder black gown with an even more risque split for the event at Claridges Hotel in Mayfair on Monday night.

The mother of three, who has been married to Duran Duran frontman Simon Le Bon for 25 years, completed her look with a gold sequined clutch bag and sparkling earrings. More pictures when you continue.

Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, Miss Aniston, 42, went for a similar style in a black gown with a racy split and flowing train as she presented an award at the Glamour magazine Women of the Year ceremony.

Miss Lopez, 42, lightened the mood in a full-length cream gown slashed almost to the hip at the event in New York on Monday.
