For Lagos prostitutes, an end to hawking sex for money
From the ancient time to the present, prostitution has always been regarded as the oldest profession in the world. This belief also implies that prostitution is somehow a cultural practice that has been with mankind since the beginning of time.
Male and female sex workers can be found in every city and every country of the world. From the more popular prostitution on the street to the present high paid escorts, it can be said that the profession is getting more sophisticated.
But this act of trading sex for money is regarded as a social disorder in many countries across the world. This, however, does not undermine the fact that some Western countries have legalised it.

A police sergeant, Kalejaiye Ola, is to pay the supreme price as a Benin High Court has sentenced him to death by hanging for the murder of one Paul Erimafa on June 23, 2003 with AK47 assault rifle. Justice Roland Amaize, in his judgment, held that the act of the accused was pre-meditated and not the defence of accidental discharge offered by the accused.
According to the judge, the accused initially reported a case of armed robbery against the deceased but that investigation proved that the alleged robbery was a lie. Justice Amaize held that there were contradictions in the accused person’s extra-judicial statement and oral testimony in court.

Post-election violence: CPC effects bail of 600 suspects in Kaduna
KADUNA – Six weeks after their arrest and detention over alleged involvement in the violence that engulfed parts of Kaduna following the release of the last presidential election results, the Congress for progressive Change, CPC, in Kaduna state, yesterday, said it has so far secured the bail of over 600 suspects.
The CPC said it is still working to secure bail for more, saying it was all on compassionate grounds and in the spirit of oneness, since not all who breathed freedom were CPC members.
The CPC State Party Chairman, Alhaji Ahmadu Yaro disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Kaduna .
In spite of the high number of CPC supporters arrested during the crisis, Yaro , denied the allegations that members of his party were responsible for the post election violence, putting the blame on supposed aggrieved PDP members who lost at the party’s primaries.

“It was PDP members who were fighting each other as a result of the fall-out of the primaries. It was a crisis within the PDP that caused the vilence, many of their members were not happy, that was why they started the crisis it was not CPC”, he said.

Emir tongue lashes Vice President over lateness to palace
KANO— EMIR of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, yesterday, tongue-lashed the Vice President, Mohammed Namadi Sambo, for coming late to his palace during a courtesy visit, describing the action as “unfair.”

Sambo and his entourage had informed the palace of their intention to visit Alhaji Bayero but eventually got there about three hours late.
Apparently angered by the lateness of the Vice President and his entourage, Bayero expressed disappointment over the issue saying that as a stickler to time, he abhorred it.
He equally dismissed earlier assurances by the vice president that the Federal Government would complete the power projects initiated by the government in the state, noting: “We have the experience of unredeemed promises by successive administrations over the last 20 years.”
Bayero said: “You (Sambo) alerted us of your desire to pay a courtesy call on the palace by 10.00 am, and we have been ready for you since 9.30am only for you to turn up by 1.00pm. It is highly unfair.

Unknown to many, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is the brainchild of Prof. Timothy Uzodinma Nwala, a teacher and activist. Shortly after the end of the civil war in 1970, Nwala, started the East Central State Volunteer Services Corps (ECSVSC), an initiative that was later adopted and adapted by the Gowon military regime.
Following the killing of 10 NYSC members in Bauchi State last month, some Nigerians have called for the scrapping of the programme. But Nwala in this interview says the scheme should not be allowed to die. Excerpts:

Collapsed building tragedy: Man loses two children, three others injured

After working very hard to earn a decent living, it is expected that one reaps the fruits of one’s labour. The fruits of labour can be in the form of a car, a house, a valued investment or in any other form, an evidence or proof that one has worked hard and has something to show for it. But sometimes, due to uncertainties that life presents to people, what one has toiled for, for a good number of years, including those considered very precious assets, can be swept away, leaving the victim resignedly exclaiming: “Such is life”.

I'ts my Birthday!!!
Hurray!!! I'm a year older today. I was born on the 23rd of May some years ago. How are the days flying. From that small boy of those days to the husband of the most beautiful girl in the whole wide world, the father to two cute girls and a bubbly boy. From that boy that went to elementary school bare footed, with patched school uniform, that wore rubber sandals in the university. From that boy that did all sort of menial jobs (car wash, labourer at construction sites, bathing for rams etc) to a professional in my field today.

On May 8, 2011, when Tunde Ayanda, a medical doctor, had gone to a hospital in Tanke, where he works, and his wife, Adetola (also a medical doctor), had gone for Sunday service at a Pentecostal church in the town, Olatunji and Ojo (both 18), allegedly burgled their flat and that of their neighbour, Pastor Tayo Busari. Profile: Oprah Winfrey: ‘Most Influential Woman in the World’

The woman
Oprah (Eudy)
By Gabriella Osamor
Oprah Winfrey is an American television host,
actress, producer, and philanthropist. She has been described as, “ a
roundhouse, a full course meal, big, brassy, loud, aggressive, hyper, laughable,
lovable , soulful, tender, low-down, earthy and hungry”.
Hungry, probably,
best describes Oprah (originally "Orpah" after the Biblical character in the
Book of Ruth). You’d be hard-pressed to find a personal history that embodies
the idea of a Cinderella story more than Oprah Winfrey’s.
From a poverty-stricken childhood marred by
sexual abuse and a teenage pregnancy, Oprah went on to become one of the most
successful, powerful and influential women in America. Her role as a cultural
icon, philanthropist, media maven and outspoken political advocate mean she has
dipped her toe into every aspect of modern society and left a mark that few
others have.

IMF aborted Strauss-Kahn probe in 2008
An internal investigation by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) into allegations that its managing director, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, abused his position of power failed because the alleged victim refused to cooperate.
According to Bloomberg news, Piroska Nagy, an IMF economist who had a brief romantic relationship with Strauss-Kahn in January 2008 didn’t participate in the bank’s internal probe in the summer of 2008, she said in a letter three years ago. She wrote to Robert Smith, the outside lawyer who was brought in to investigate Strauss- Kahn’s behaviour after the internal probe stalled. She cooperated in Smith’s investigation.
"Because I did not fully trust the internal processes at the fund, I declined to cooperate with the fund’s initial investigation," Nagy wrote on October 20, 2008, just days before Smith concluded his investigation.

Over 40 and still sexy
|
For these Nigerian actresses, age is just a number. They are all above 40, yet they are still as sexy as they come. They certainly know their trade when it comes to looking fabulous. They go all out to make sure they are the cynosure of all eyes at social events, thus retaining their celebrity status, even as they advance in age.
To these actresses, competition from the younger generation is virtually nen-existent as they have not allowed their age to deter them from looking hot and sexy.
These powerful ladies effortlessly make heads turn and as they grow old, they seem to look sexier and remain delectable.

Schwarzenegger Puts Acting Career on Hold

Reuters – Then California Governor Arnold
Schwarzenegger outside the West Wing of the White House, February 22, …
Associated Press
Former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger delayed his
Hollywood comeback Thursday as he braced for what could be a costly divorce
prompted by revelations that he had an affair and child with a housekeeper who
worked for his family for 20 years.
The former "Terminator" star told his talent
agency to postpone all his movie projects that are currently under way or being
negotiated until further notice, a statement from Schwarzenegger's office
said.
"Gov. Schwarzenegger is focusing on personal
matters and is not willing to commit to any production schedules or timelines,"
the statement said. Instead of another film, the actor could be starring in a
big-money divorce case that will stand out even in a city that has seen its
share of made-for-the-tabloids matrimonial splits.
His wife, Maria Shriver, the Kennedy heiress and
former network TV anchor, stands to cash in big-time financially, according to
prominent divorce attorneys.
Although California is a no-fault divorce state,
meaning her husband's acknowledged philandering technically can't be used
against him in court, the reality, attorneys say, is that it will be.
"Every judge would know about what happened, and
I think would hold it against him," said attorney Robert Nachshin, who has
represented the ex-wives of a who's who of entertainers that includes Will
Smith, Rod Stewart and John Ritter. "Judges are human beings, and Maria will
definitely be the sympathetic spouse."

Why married men cheat
Mudashiru Moruf
HAVE you ever wondered about what lures men to women? What makes a man think that a particular lady is the right choice for him in marriage? In the same vein, why do men, after a period of time with a lady, seek new relationships, engage in extramarital affairs, sex scandals, break marital vows and still not feel remorseful?
Mrs Titilayo Adewuyi, a teacher, never bargained for what she got after 25 years of marriage to her hubby judging by their
first three years of memorable courtship. Her husband, James, was working with one of the old generation banks until a few years ago, when he was transferred to another state. Before then, Mr James Adewuyi was a supposed honest spouse, but on getting to his new environment, one thing led to another and he began to ‘notice’ other women.

If you are a patron of a night club and a lady approaches you around the vicinity of the club asking you to pay her gate fee, you need to be wary. The lady may be a member of a gang that specialises in kidnapping patrons of night club.
This was the experience of 48-year-old Emmanuel Sackey last Friday at a night club on Adetokunbo Ademola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos. What gave him out was that he arrived at the club in his boss’ Hummer Jeep. So, the kidnappers thought that he was a rich guy.

End of the road for teenage robbers

Date was May 11, 2011 and time was about 2.45pm. According to eyewitnesses, the Okada robbers met their waterloo in their hideout near a worship center following a tip -off on their whereabout. It was said that a vigilante group keeping watch over the area was chasing the kingpin of the gang identified as Michael who attempted removing a motorbike parked in front of a residential area. The dare-devil however, succeeded in escaping, but his gang members were not so lucky as they were rounded up.
